We can’t think of a better way to start our New England wedding photographer adventure than with Alyssa and Naveen’s two-day wedding! They are two of the kindest, most humble, friendliest people we have ever had the opportunity of working with and their wedding was such a memorable experience. We were excited to be able to photograph a wedding in New Hampshire but even more excited when we found out Alyssa and Naveen’s wedding would include both Indian and American traditions!

DAY ONE – NALANGU AND MEHNDI CEREMONIES

Day one was all about the Indian traditions. Alyssa had a beautiful sari for the morning Nalangu and Mehndi ceremonies. Naveen looked great in his matching sherwani. And, to add to the festivities, their close friends and family who attended the morning ceremonies were also wearing traditional Indian outfits. It was so cool to see everyone all dressed up. The ceremony setting was beautiful and so colorful. They even had henna artists on hand for those that wanted some additional ethnic details. The henna designs on all the ladies looked amazing and was such a great addition to the morning.

The ceremony was fun, light-hearted, and gave everyone an opportunity to come and bless the couple. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed lunch and then we had an opportunity to spend a few minutes with Alyssa and Naveen taking a few pictures. They did such a great job planning their day. There wasn’t a single time that we felt rushed or pressed for time. Every time we asked them for a few minutes to take pictures, they readily agreed. This made our day so easy.

We met back up with Alyssa and Naveen in the afternoon as they got dressed for the evening festivities. Alyssa had another sari for the evening. If it was possible for a sari to be more beautiful than the one she had in the morning, the one she wore in the evening accomplished it. Naveen’s mother was so kind and so attentive to every detail that Alyssa needed for her outfit. His sister and a handful of other family members also helped Alyssa get dressed (there’s a lot to the ‘getting dressed’ portion of the day with Indian clothing) and it was so great to see everyone working together.

The evening event was an amazing Indian dinner followed by a wonderful evening of visiting with friends and family. It was such a great idea to give everyone a chance to hang out and talk. We were able to steal the bride and groom a couple of times for pictures before the evening ended. Day one wrapped up with a great choreographed dance from Naveen’s parents and their friends.

DAY TWO – WESTERN CEREMONY

As a Texas and now New England wedding photographer team, we have had the opportunity to take pictures at lots of really cool ceremony sites. But, this one takes the cake (pun intended). During our consultation, Alyssa and Naveen told us that their wedding ceremony was going to take place on top of a mountain. You hear that and think, “Yeah…okay…that sounds cool!” But, you can’t even imagine how cool it is until you see it! Alyssa and Naveen chose to get married on the top of their favorite ski mountain at Waterville Valley Resort.

In order to get to the ceremony site, we had to take the ski lift to the top of the mountain. What a cool and unique way to get to a wedding ceremony! We went up first and were ready to get pictures as Naveen and Alyssa came up separately. With no one else on top of the mountain, Alyssa and Naveen got to spend a few minutes together during their first look. It was such a beautiful and intimate moment. Because they did such a great job planning their day, we had plenty of time for first look pictures (which were simply stunning) and even got most of the wedding party and family pictures taken care of prior to the ceremony.

Alyssa and Naveen’s ceremony was perfect! The setting was breathtaking. One of their best friends was the officiant. Alyssa was beautiful in her dress and Naveen looked quite dapper in his stylish suit. After the ceremony, we spent a few minutes taking some pictures of the newlyweds with the stunning views before making our way down the mountain on the ski lift.

Waterville Valley Resort was the perfect venue for Alyssa and Naveen’s wedding reception. The reception hall had plenty of space for everyone and dinner was amazing! Once the party started, there wasn’t a dull moment until the music stopped. Alyssa and Naveen had a live band and their friends and family danced and celebrated the night away.

Alyssa and Naveen, thank you so much for allowing us to be part of your special celebration! All of your friends and family were so kind and all of you made us feel so welcome from the very first moment we arrived. You are both special people and we are so glad that we got to share in your big day! Congratulations!!!
