Terrace Club Wedding Photographer | Kristen and Bryan | Austin Wedding Photographer
Elena and I have known Kristen for a little over five years. We were still struggling to find our way and our place in the Austin wedding photographer market when we stumbled into The Terrace Club for a wedding. In a short amount of time, we photographed a few more weddings with Kristen at The Terrace Club and then, out of the kindness of their hearts, Kristen and Hunter decided to take a chance on us and give us a spot of their preferred vendor list. This might sound a little melodramatic, but it is 100% true. Their decision to include us on their preferred vendor list changed our lives. Being part of the Terrace Club family is one of the best things that has ever happened to us and having the opportunity to know and love Kristen has been so special. It’s because of that history that Elena and I were so, so touched with Kristen asked us to photograph her wedding. She has seen thousands of photographers and she could have reached out to any one of them and asked them to photograph her wedding. Choosing us was such a blessing for us. Finally, Elena and I have a chance to pay back just a bit of what Kristen has given to us over the years!
The first time we met Bryan it took us all of about three minutes to figure out that he was one of the most genuinely honest and kind guys we are ever going to meet. He and Kristen are just the perfect match. They’ve been to our house for dinner several times and we love spending time with them. Elena and I are excited to continue our friendship with Kristen and Bryan.
Okay…enough about that. Let’s talk about there AMAZING wedding!!!!
Every wedding we photograph at The Terrace Club is beautiful. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. The staff at The Terrace Club doing an amazing job making every bride’s dreams come true and Kristen’s wedding was no exception. Everything was just PERFECT! The flowers. The draping. The cake table. The weather (yes, I think they even control the weather). It was just perfect! When we arrived, we found Kristen getting ready in the bridal suite. Bryan arrived soon after we did. One of the things we really enjoyed about Kristen and Bryan’s wedding was the lack of a bridal party. Nothing against a good bridal party. We love the fun and friendship and it’s definitely special to have your closest friends with you all day celebrating. But, Kristen and Bryan chose to forego some of the traditional pomp and circumstance. This made their day so easy and relaxed…and it gave us more time for pictures with the two of them. As a wedding photographer in Austin, we’ve seen lots of weddings and lots of timelines and lots of different ways to approach a wedding day. It’s still hard to beat the simplicity of two people who just want to spend the rest of their lives together and their focus is on that single thing on the wedding day. That was Kristen and Bryan’s wedding.
Kristen and Bryan’s first look was beautiful. Although the pictures will show it better than I can say it, I feel like it still needs to be said. Kristen was so beautiful in her dress! Elena and I didn’t really know what kind of dress to expect. When we first saw Kristen in her dress, we were blown away! And Bryan’s choice to wear his custom lined jacket with no tie and an open collar was spot on. It was the perfect mix of “Kristen said I have to dress up” and “But I’m really here to have a drink or two with my best friends.” All of their pictures on the hill at The Terrace Club were so cute! Once we finished taking pictures of the two of them, we spent a few minutes with family. Before we knew it, it was time for the ceremony. Sarah de la Fuente with Central Ceremonies is our absolute favorite officiant! She is so sweet and personable. Kristen and Bryan’s ceremony was beautiful.
After the ceremony it was time for us to head back out to the hill for sunset pictures. Some people may not know this, but the best sunsets always have some clouds…something to catch and cast some amazing colors through the sky. Given the opportunity, a good wedding photographer will wait until the sun is just below the horizon and the colors on the clouds in the sky are at their peak. On Kristen and Bryan’s wedding day, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky the entire day. It was the clearest, bluest sky you can imagine. Elena and I were a bit disappointed because we really wanted Kristen and Bryan’s sunset pictures to be perfect. We still aren’t sure how this happened, but when we got back to the spot for sunset pictures, low and behold, there were clouds in the sky! We were all so excited and their sunset pictures are amazing! (On a side note, not long ago, another photographer told me that their company was THE BEST in Austin at low-light photography, sunset pictures being part of that. Well…I’ll see your “best low-light pictures in Austin” and raise you Kristen and Bryan’s pictures. 🙂 I feel like I’m holding a pretty good hand.) Hunter wanted to make sure that Kristen and Bryan’s sunset pictures were amazing so she graciously provided a bottle of champagne and some smoke bombs. We LOVE the smoke bomb trend for pictures and hope that continues because the pictures are so cool!!!
Once we finished all of the formal pictures, the rest of the day was spent celebrating with friends and family. At the end of the night, all of the guests went downstairs to send Kristen and Bryan off with a sparkler exit. Little did they know that Kristen and Bryan had a surprise of their own. An unbelievable fireworks show by Big Dog Pyro dazzled everyone! As an Austin wedding photographer, we LOVE weddings that end with fireworks. After the fireworks show, Kristen and Bryan climbed into their getaway car. Now it was Kristen and Bryan’s turn to be surprised. Big Dog Pyro provided their awesome sparkler fountains down the driveway as Kristen and Bryan drove away.
Kristen and Bryan, thank you so much for including us in your big day. We love you both and are so happy for your new family. We look forward to many, many more dinners together and wish God’s blessing on your family!
